New Hampshire Burgers: Lexie's Joint Reviewed
Sometimes big flavors come in small packages. Such is the case with the fantastic burgers at Lexie's Joint (Portsmouth NH).

Boston BBQ: BBQsmith Food Truck Reviewed
The site's 236th barbecue review is for BBQsmith (Boston MA), a food truck offering smoked meat sandwiches, plates and tacos. It's fitting, I guess (though unintentional), that this review is being posted just minutes before their last appearance of the year. To find out why, check out the review via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.

Massachusetts Burgers: The Boynton Reviewed
Everyone has an "old standby" that's not quite a favorite but always seems to come through without fanfare. In Worcester MA, one of mine is The Boynton, who makes an unspectacular but very respectable burger.

New Hampshire BBQ: Eddie B's Comfort Food Reviewed
The site's 235th barbecue review is for Eddie B's Comfort Food & BBQ (Portsmouth NH), a downtown breakfast-and-lunchery with barbecue sandwiches and platters on the menu. Check out the review via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.

New York City BBQ: BBQue's Smoke Shack Reviewed
The site's 234th barbecue review is for BBQue's Smoke Shack (NYC), another over-the-counter barbecue joint that's as approachable in price (think fast food) as it is in vibe. But how's the food? Check out the review via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.

Joints Directory Madness
Here's the latest batch of barbecue Joints directory activity, spanning five states. This time there are eight new joints, three closings (though two might come back), one move and one new website.
NEW JOINTS and/or NEW TO THE DIRECTORY
Sweet Cheeks (Boston MA) is the new Fenway area barbecue joint masterminded by Rocca's (and Top Chef's) Tiffani Faison. www.sweetcheeksq.com
Meat BBQ Company (Forked River NJ) is a new joint with a strong competition 'cue pedigree: the owners vend and compete on the circuit as Jacked Up BBQ. Thanks to Sledneck for the lead. www.meatbbqco.com
Southern Smokehouse (Linden NJ) is a slightly-more barbecue version of an Old Country Buffet. there's a carving station, supposedly with spare ribs, but there's as much Italian and Chinese as there is 'cue. Thanks (blame?) to Sledneck for the lead. www.smokehousebuffet.com
BJ Ryan's B and C House (Norwalk CT) is a joint that houses barbecue (the B) and crab (the C). Such a combination could befantastic or disastrous, and I'm hoping for the former. Thanks again to Sledneck for the lead. www.bjryansbanchouse.com
Fat Pat's BBQ Shack (Jamaica NY) is a new Queens joint. Thanks once more to Sledneck for the lead. Facebook
G and G's Eatery (Dracut MA) is an all-purpose greater Lowell joint whose barbecue component isn't yet known (probably well behind the pizza), but I'll be checking soon. www.gandgquickbite.com
Perigee (Lee MA) is another of those high end restaurants (hardly a joint) with some promising barbecue selections on the menu. To some, such seriousness is barbecue blasphemy, but I'm all for it if it's done right. www.perigee-restaurant.com
Smoke & Bones BBQ (Derby CT) is a greater New Haven joint that promises barbecue that's "served fast but cooked slooow." Make that smoked slow(ly), because the Facebook page shows their Southern Pride. Their menu also includes po boys, fried chicken, Buffalo wings, 5 different salads and 6 different fried seafood options. Thanks to Bill for the lead. www.smokeandbones.com
United BBQ (Providence RI) shut its doors at the end of October: possibly temporarily, possibly for a move and possibly never to open again. That's what the message on their website says, and I applaud them for what I'm assuming is a mix of honesty and uncertainty rather than the usual "closed for renovations" sham. www.unitedbbq.com
Estelle's Contemporary Smokehouse (Farmingdale NY) is another in the long line of shuttered Long island barbecueries. They may also be retooling (for the "Grand Reopening," according to a Newsday report) rather than down for the count. Thanks to both Sledneck and Vinny for the info. www.estellesbbq.com
Turtle Crossing (East Hampton NY) is another Long Island casualty, this time for a well established restaurant that decided to go more high end. Thanks to both Sledneck and Chuck for the lead. www.estellesbbq.com
Kit Kat's Smoked BBQ (formerly Carolina RI and now Pawcatuck CT) has moved its outdoor stand to indoor digs in another state. www.kitkatsbbq.webs.com
MexiQ Kitchen and Draught (Queens, and not to be confused with Mexicue) now has a website. The menu is big on both the Mexi and the Q, and there's a nice little burger roster featuring meats by Pat LaFrieda (supplier to the stars). www.mexiqny.com
Boston BBQ: A First Look at Sweet Cheeks
This is less of a review and more of a first look with immediate impressions of the just-opened Sweet Cheeks (Boston), the much talked about barbecuery and cocktail joint by chef Tiffani Faison.

New York City BBQ: Mexicue Reviewed
The site's 233rd barbecue review is for Mexicue (NYC), a food truck turned restaurant that fuses barbecue and Mexican flavors. Check out the review via the Reviews page, the link above or link to reviews using the red icons in the Joints directory.
